Better Data, Stronger Accountability

Joining forces to address achieving new and smarter levels of accountability through stronger data collection, two American Dream 2.0 coalition members laid out their vision for better measurement in higher education in the Washington Monthly.

The two coalition members, Robert Reischauer, an economist and former director of the Congressional Budget Office, and Michael McPherson, Spencer Foundation president and coalition chair, spoke to the problems that arise from inadequate or misguided measurement systems.

“Policies are clearly needed that make colleges, as well as students, take responsibility for dropouts. To do this we will need to measure more, and develop better measures,” the two members wrote.
